This week is a powerful energy week for us. It's the week before our sacred holy days of Samhain eve and Samhain (or Beltane for our kin in the Southern Hemisphere).
I know many of us are already in full-on preparation for next weekend, and I think it's interesting (and fitting!) that I pulled the Temperance card.
The deck featured here is from the talented Ciro Marchetti's Gilded Tarot deck.
Again, let's review the card itself for its imagery.
I love this one as we see true alchemy at play. In one hand, this otherwordly woman holds a cup of fire, and in the other- a cup of water. may ask her, "How can one mix fire and water?" The heavenly alchemist answers, "with the right proportions and vessels, anything is possible." In this, we understand that all things are possible with belief and the proper tools (ourselves). This is the true spirit of magic. It is our disbelief or our agreed-upon view of the world that makes things opposite, incompatible, un-mixable. When we release our pre-conceived notions of a thing and truly open ourselves to new views, all things are truly possible, compatible, tranformable.
In traditional readings, the Temperance card cautions about balance, moderation, restraint, being centered.
In this week, as the veil between the seen-real and unseen-real becomes thin, I believe Temperance asks us to drop our veil of societal/religious/world views and 'see' what is in our hearts.. listen for the message from those who have passed into the Otherworld, look for the possibilities rather than what we 'know' and prepare ourselves for the powerfuly alchemy of Samhain.
We are infinite creatures in finite bodies. Let us lift the veil of own opaque views and be open to the limitless possibilities within and without.
May this week bring you all you need to create your own powerful, transforming changes with the help of our beautiful alchemist.

I just came over from Eco Yogini, and I love this! Temperance is a card I could really use right now, so thank you. From one Maryland witch to another, blessed be and blessed Samhain!
